On Wednesday, February 12, Apple released an Apple TV app for Android smartphones and tablets<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, for the first time ever, users can easily watch Apple Originals and other Apple TV+ streaming content on Android mobile devices. Previously, the only smartphones and tablets with a native Apple TV app were Apple’s own iPhone and iPad. Available content includes hit shows like Ted Lasso, Severance, Silo, and more.<\/p>\n

Since 2020, Apple has offered an Apple TV app for select Android TV-based televisions and set-top boxes; interestingly, Apple still offers a separate Sony version<\/a> of its Android TV app in the Google Play store. The main app listing<\/a> was previously for Android TV devices other than Sony’s; this version of the app now includes Android tablet and smartphone support.<\/p>\n

Apple has a number of other apps for non-Apple operating systems; you can see listings for Google Play (Android)<\/a> and the Microsoft Store (Windows)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ownership of an Apple device isn’t required to sign up for the Apple TV+ streaming service. To get a free trial, just go to tv.apple.com<\/a>, and you’ll be able to create an Apple Account<\/a> if you don’t already have one.<\/a><\/p>\n
