A new preferences, <b>Automatically update safe downloads list<\/b>, was added in this security update. This setting tells Mac OS X to check every 24 hours, and on each restart, for new malware definitions in addition to the few that are already available. However, if you open the Security preference pane, unlock it, and wait for more than 30 seconds, any changes you make to this setting will not stick. Do the above, quit System Preferences, then open the Security preference pane and you will see that the setting will be as it had before your last change.<\/p>\n<p><center><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"748\" height=\"612\" src=\"https:\/\/www.intego.com\/mac-security-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/quarantine-settings.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"quarantine-settings\"  class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2867\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.intego.com\/mac-security-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/quarantine-settings.png 748w, https:\/\/www.intego.com\/mac-security-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/quarantine-settings-300x245.png 300w, https:\/\/www.intego.com\/mac-security-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/quarantine-settings-100x81.png 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 748px) 100vw, 748px\" \/><br \/>\n<\/center><\/p>\n<p>In addition, a log entry is written to the Mac&#8217;s Console logs:<\/p>\n<pre><code>System Preferences[1673]\t*** xprotect: SMJobSetEnabled failed with: Error Domain=kSMErrorDomainLaunchd Code=2 UserInfo=0x200260100 \"The operation couldn\u2019t be completed.
