Security journalist Brian Krebs reports that a major credit card processor breach<\/a> has compromised up to 10 million VISA and MasterCard credit cards. The two companies have begun alerting banks to the breach, which occurred between January 21 and February 25 of this year, and the information obtained may allow the creation of new credit cards.<\/p>\n

It’s not clear which processor was breached, but sources say that “most of the cards they analyzed seem to have in common are that they were used in parking garages in and around the New York City area.”<\/p>\n

You should pay close attention to your credit card statements, and perhaps even check them daily, especially if you have used a parking garage in New York City, or live in the New York area. Contact your bank if you have any specific worries.<\/p>\n
