Bad Enough to Become an Internet Punchline"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been a week since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intego.com\/mac-security-blog\/first-reactions-to-whats-new-in-ios-6-a-rundown-of-the-good-the-not-bad-and-the-ugly\/\">Apple&#8217;s iOS 6 has been released<\/a> to the masses, and the one glaring criticism everyone seems to agree on is that the Apple Maps app is terrible. It&#8217;s nowhere near as robust as Google Maps (which is what Apple Maps is replacing), and many users, especially those who live in a mid-sized city or more rural areas, are frustrated. Even though Apple has assured users that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tuaw.com\/2012\/09\/20\/apple-says-maps-will-get-better\/\">Maps &#8220;will get better&#8221;<\/a> (I picture them launching their very own &#8220;It Gets Better&#8221; campaign to placate distraught Apple fans), Maps has quickly become an Internet punchline as memes and jokes continue to pop up at Apple&#8217;s expense.<\/p>\n<p>Below is a sample of the amusing jokes centered around how poor Apple Maps is right now:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;iOS 6 maps taught me that there&#8217;s a lot of broccoli in New York. quote about doing LSD<\/a> ties into the current look and feel of Apple Maps quite well<\/li>\n<li>There&#8217;s an entire Tumblr dedicated to &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/theamazingios6maps.tumblr.com\/\">The Amazing iOS 6 Maps<\/a>&#8221; that contains numerous images of wobbly streets, misplaced monuments, destinations in the \u00a0middle of nowhere, and more fudged up map features<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Even the Apple Maps app icon took some criticism, with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/funny\/comments\/10eohx\/it_looks_like_the_apple_maps_icon_is_instructing\/\">one reddit user noting<\/a> &#8220;It looks like the Apple Maps icon is instructing me to drive off an overpass onto the interstate below&#8221;:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.intego.com\/mac-security-blog\/making-fun-of-apple-maps\/apple-maps-icon\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6328\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6328\" title=\"apple-maps-icon\" src=\"https:\/\/www.intego.com\/mac-security-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/apple-maps-icon.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.intego.com\/mac-security-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/apple-maps-icon.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.intego.com\/mac-security-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/apple-maps-icon-125x150.jpg 125w, https:\/\/www.intego.com\/mac-security-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/apple-maps-icon-250x300.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.intego.com\/mac-security-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/apple-maps-icon-100x120.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Honestly, Apple Maps is such a debacle that you can&#8217;t help but laugh about it. Their app is probably getting more attention now in its &#8220;ghetto&#8221; state than it would be if it were as good as Google Maps, so even though Apple is currently the butt of many jokes, I can&#8217;t help but wonder if they&#8217;re happy with the attention, anyway.
